In 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions Clubs International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Since then, we have worked tirelessly to aid the blind and visually impaired.
Lions collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids. These are recycled for various purposes. This helps fulfill one of our global causes, environmentalism. The Walworth Lions Club recycles about 1600 pairs of eyeglasses and several hundred hearing aids annually. This keeps them out of landfills.
